The Editor-in-Chief, together with the Editorial Team, conducts an initial selection of texts submitted for publication, taking into account the formal requirements of the journal Forum Wschodnie. Rocznik Interdyscyplinarny, the scholarly quality of the material, and the journal's thematic scope and objectives.
The Editorial Team selects the reviewers. Two reviewers, who are experts in the field of the given text, are appointed to evaluate each text. The editorial office strives to ensure that one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign institution, different from the author's nationality. The secretary sends a written inquiry to the proposed reviewers, asking if they will undertake the evaluation of the specified texts within a 2-week deadline. We wait 7 days for a response from potential reviewers. If the selected experts decline to review within the proposed timeframe, the reviewer selection process is repeated.
Reviews are prepared according to the double-blind peer review model, which means that authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, and reviewers do not know whose texts they are evaluating. Reviewers are obliged to inform the editorial office of any potential conflict of interest.
Before sending the text for review, the journal's Secretary is responsible for removing any elements that could identify the author, i.e., the author's name and surname, affiliation, email address, acknowledgments, or funding sources if they allow for identification, etc. The Secretary also coordinates the process of signing the required contracts and declarations to ensure compliance with ethical principles.
The review form, containing the criteria for evaluating the text, is public and available on the journal's website in 3 language versions: Polish, Russian, and English.
The names of the reviewers for individual papers are not disclosed; the journal publishes a list of all reviewers on its website.
Each review is in written form and ends with a clear opinion regarding the publication or rejection of the paper. In the case of one positive and one negative review, the Editorial Team decides whether the submitted text should be sent for a third, decisive review, or if the text should be rejected.
The Secretary informs the authors about the outcome of the evaluation of their submitted texts and about the schedule for further actions leading to the publication of the journal issue. The author has from 2 to 4 weeks to revise the text according to the reviewers' comments, depending on the anticipated amount of work. If the author does not accept some of the comments made by the reviewer, they are required to prepare a written justification. The Editorial Team decides on the acceptance of the submitted justification.
The text, once accepted by the scientific editor, is passed on to the language editor, and then to the Editor-in-Chief, who performs the final verification and makes the decision to forward the papers comprising a given issue to the Publisher.
The Publisher is responsible for the technical preparation of each issue of the journal.
